Long Time Mesothelioma Survivors

Golf Kraus is a long term survivors of malignant mesothelioma, there are many others, and one thing they all have in common, each of them is that concentrates all of their treatment to improve or strengthen their immune system. Some have used alternative or complementary therapies (under the guidance of a licensed physician), and in other clinical trials of immunotherapy.

The same is true for the immune system plays an important role in controlling malignant mesothelioma? The experience of survivor Paul Kraus and other long-term malignant mesothelioma lot of credit so that the immune system is indeed very important in the treatment of malignant mesothelioma.

It has been demonstrated in a number of people suffering from pleural mesothelioma, a cancer experienced a long period, the history of the disease, their immune system plays an important role in their survival very long.

In 1986, an article published in the medical journal that simply discussing the issue of malignant mesothelioma and immunity. (1) These studies of the immune response of 118 healthy people, concentrated, compared with 20 patients with malignant mesothelioma and 375 workers, free from long-term cancer from asbestos.

The researchers wanted to know, there are measurable differences in the immune response of patients with mesothelioma. Their results indicate the relationship between the immune system and malignant mesothelioma. For example:
The total number of cells * T (T11 +) cells and T helper (T4) were normal with cancer in asbestos workers, but were reduced in patients with mesothelioma. T-cells, to organize, regulate and coordinate the immune response in general.

* Most patients with mesothelioma had a profound absence of natural killer (NK) cell activity, which play the role of the immune system against malignant mesothelioma is thought-provoking. NK cells are a type of lymphocyte lethal to tumor cells and protects against a variety of infectious microbes.
In discussing the report, the researchers said: "These results have led us to the assumption that biological phenomena are usually classified as chronic immunosuppression is associated with the presence of asbestos fibers to the health of workers can cause breakdown host system monitoring and early neoplasia [malignant mesothelioma] . "

In other words, researchers have found that malignant mesothelioma resulting in May of immunosuppression. If this is true for the biological basis for the role they can play on the immune system and strengthening the immune system approaches to the treatment of malignant mesothelioma.

Another example, for a long time survivor of mesothelioma is James O'Connor. In October 2001, seventy-one years RHIO-old James O'Connor ( "RHIO") is caused by exposure to asbestos, pleural mesothelioma, when he was younger, in whom the diagnosis. His life was less than one year.

His tumor failed because the tumor was too close to his chemo cable was not an option because it will be on the stage of tumor, chemotherapy has not been a great help to him he could not give any significant expansion of his life, he said that the Spanish mainly to prepare for the death of a polite way.

To mitigate this news, the doctor also recommended that the RHIO take his wife on a cruise, and then start palliative care in the event of his return. RHIO rejected the idea. He was determined to survive this cancer. Working with the occupational therapist said that this system, more than 100 supplements a day, changed his diet, worked the body and soul, most of these programs is to strengthen the immune system, and relied on their own discipline to see through difficult times.

RHIO survived up to 7 ½ years for his dedication, knowledge, spirit, faith in something more than make it themselves, and the ability to make tough decisions qualities that lead to success in N 'an area. RHIO died July 11, 2009. He was 69. RHIO often asked how he managed his mesothelioma, or "Sir mesoscale" as he called in management.

To answer these questions and to assist and inspire other RHIO has written a book entitled "They said, months, years, I have chosen: the history of the surviving mesothelioma. This book describes what RHIO he did, his life, the life of" Mr. meso "and a lot of science for their decisions. In his book, he gives nearly one hundred medical articles that support the concept of nutrient use for management of chronic diseases such as cancer. RHIO life, and inspiring book reminds us that there are other ways to control cancer and extend life conventional methods of surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
